japanese block prints hold a special place in my heart.

when i was 3 months old, my mother and i joined my father in occupied japan. we didn't come back to the states till i was almost 6 years old.

we came back with hiroshige prints. those of edo in the winter. they were in simple black frames, and no matter where we were stationed, they hung on our dining room wall.

i loved the mix of reds and blacks and all that snow falling from dark grey skies.

block printing almost seems like magic to me...matching up the colours with the lines. amazing.

Thank you for sharing your story! You have had a childhood so different from most of us; it must have been so exciting although you was a small child.

Block prints are amazing and I can understand that they must have a special meaning to you - and still have!

And...I'm so glad you found my blog! Thanks!
