was an American born slave, daughter of
Congo born slave 'Renty'.


All portraits are daguerreotypes of enslaved
made before emancipation, by Joseph T. Zealy
Joseph T. Zealy (1812 - 1893).
They were made on commission by Louis
Agassiz (1807-1873) - a Swiss-American zoologist
and geologist - for his study of 'races'.
