Thank you for such wonderful collection of Parrots in paintings. I have been collecting them for a while. The interest on the exotic was very much alive in the 19th c. and we can see it in most of these paintings. I have frequently visited your blog and enjoy it very much!
I think there are so many sweet parrot images...yes, you are right about the exotic...but did you know that there was also a symbolic meaning: parrots in a cages was a symbol for chastity and virginity....and there a lot of pictures of young girls with parrots in cages...!
