Love the squirrel! Yesterday into today, the Autumnal Equinox, my yard has been graced with the most beautiful of black squirrels ... I've seem them in Canada, and one other black one in Indiana many years ago. But this sooty, velvety little beauty is the first one ever to visit my gardens.

Hi Ricka,

I spent yesterday thinking of you many times because it was Autumn Equinox ;O) And thanks for your commment!

Black squirrels...they are not common around here either. When I was a child my family lived in London for a while...and we had black squirrels that came to our window - even into our bedroom - to be hand-feed with peanuts...

Here in DK most squirrels are red with white chests. Outside my window are several oak trees..and from time to time I see squirrels there. The birds are giving them a hard time...

But anyway...they are so, so cute!

Mette, I've been thinking of you as well on the equinox and waiting for some inspiration to push me to write! My daughter attended an equinox bonfire Monday evening, but I stayed at home, and inside with the fireplace as we had such rain I was not sure I could coax a fire in my little fire pot! It has continued to be rainy and dreary all the week, so I've been inside with candles dreaming of your tree of life -- ideas and dreams are beginning to stir with me so perhaps I'll have something soon ... in the meantime, lay in lots of candles for your lanterns - the days are growing shorter!

If I'm fortunate and quick, perhaps I'll get a picture of "Black Beauty" for you and Catherine!

Yes, days are growing shorter! Sorry to hear about all the rain...we, on the other side, have been blessed with weeks of sun! Cold mornings, dew and mist, the sun comes and warms everything up: 19-21C - and that's warmer than Sep. days normally are around here! Next week it gets colder...

A bonfire on equinox...that sounds great! Wish it was here!

Ricka, soon Michaelmas is coming; so I'll be posting a LOT of lanterns, candles and things to keep us warm ;O))
