The first house(photo at the top) looks very much like the family house at Denmark Kansas. No one actually lives there anymore, but it has been remodeled and kept up. It is now listed as a Heritage house. It is now known as the Dahl House.
Wow, 'The Dahl House'...I say! I think it is such a beautiful house - I have several photos of it ...if somebody looked out through the window(s) they must have thought I was mad....
My children's grandfather was born in that house, their great-grandfather died in it. It had very thick walls, an inside wall and an outside wall(that one of limestone), the space in between was filled with sand. Very cool in the summer.

A family house indeed! I must say that I like the part about the walls....cool in the summer...that's my kind of house!
