In Danish folklore, a helhest (Danish "Hel horse") is a
three-legged horse which brings bad luck, sickness or
death to any one who sees it....unless you close your eyes
when it comes. Helhesten is a ghost of a horse, buried
alive. Often it's eyes are red or shine bright - very bright.
Maybe the helhest was originally the steed of the goddess Hel
