Floridagirl has twice (Meeetttee!) been so VERY kind to recommend
a wonderful film...and book: The Man Who Planted Trees, by Jean Giono.
THANKS Floridagirl!!!
In 1987, Frédéric Back, with Radio-Canada, made an animated filmfrom this book, narrated by Christopher Plummer. It won an
Academy Award that year. I'm amazed by the beauty of the film...
Please, go here and see the YouTube version. I've only watched
no. 1 of 4...but I had to pass it on to you right away
It is the story of Elzeard Bouffier, who over 35 years quietlycultivated a magnificent forest in a desolate area of France.
The tale is told by a young traveler who happens upon the
old gentleman one day, and finds himself returning to
rediscover the landscape several times over the following decades.
