...and today we only have a few storks
nesting in Denmark every year...

The stork has great symbol value for us Danes,
since it appears in a number of songs, fairytales,
warnings and myths as well as in paintings and
other works of art. This noble bird has for
centuries been part of the Danish nature and
cultural picture and contributes to a special
atmosphere by staying in nests on top of houses
and farms. Apart from being delivering babies
acc. to the myth, many people still regard the
stork as being a lucky bird and it was earlier
considered bad luck to kill or harm a stork

This is a very interesting post, Mette. "This noble bird has for
centuries been part of the Danish nature and cultural....houses and farms" WOW! I didn't know this. That is, the storks for you are just like our cranes for us!
PS The pretty flowers in your former post make me feel so good. Thank you, Mette.

Hi Sapphire...I'm so, so glad to see you..I think of you a lot!
Oh, yes the stork has a special place in many peoples' heats...I think, today it's mostly because of the stork gives an idyllic images of 'the good old day', 'a safe world' where the stork was nesting on the roof of the farm etc.
I've seen them several times in the south of Denmark..they are beautiful, andwe don't have a lot of birds as big as the storks, so they are also special because of their size.
