J.P. Seddon (1827-1906) designed this architect's desk,
including the metalwork and inlay, in 1861 for his own use.
Seddon had the desk made at his father's cabinet-making
firm. He also commissioned ten painted panels depicting the
Fine and Applied Arts from Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co

Stained Glass, King René's Honeymoon, 1863

The designs for these panels were originally made for
the cabinet above. They depict incidents from the
honeymoon of King René, who was endowed with a love
of fine arts. The stained glass was made by Morris,
Marshall, Faulkner & Co., London, for the house of the
painter Myles Birket Foster at Whitley, Surrey
