The artist and illustrator Ethel Larcombe has a short biography at
http://www.sotherans.co.uk/Books/Childrens_Illustrated.php?stk=319706. The dates you quote and the picture posted are for the tennis player of the same name. I am currently doing a bit of research on Ethel the artist, as I believe a great wrong has been done to her. I hope I can make it right, even if just a little. Please forgive my intrusion.

Hello Aputsiaq, nice to meet you!
Please visit my blog and read my latest post on Ethel. She was greater than we all knew!

The Sans Pantaloons has to do with kilt wearing.

Honest!
