Mortensaften

Sir James Guthrie: 'To Pastures New'
link

Tonight 'Mortensaften' is celebrated with traditional dinners
by many Danes. 'Mortensaften' means 'The night of St. Martin'.
Families and friends gather and eat goose (or duck..)...

Tomorrow, on November 11th, I'll post a lot of images
with paper lanterns to celebrate Martinmas...like I do
every year; it is almost a Polar-Bear-blog-tradition :O)

Hi

Oh I'm looking forward to your GREAT annual ritual, paper lantern posting on November 11 very much! Those fairy drawings are so lovely.
By the way, I found Japanese lanterns which we call "Hozuki" here. Do you often see the plant in Denmark too?

Hi Sapphire! I hope you're doing fine ;O)

Yes, the Japanese lanterns are grown in Danish gardens...they don't grow wild in nature. I simply love them...they are like fairy lanterns and have the most beautiful shape and colours!
