Happy Martinmas to you Mette. In my country, the U.S., it is Veterans' Day or Remembrance Day in other countries honoring fallen soldiers. The lanterns and the significance give us both cause to mark the day. Very lovely posts as always. Have a pleasant weekend.

Oh Marilyn, thanks for sharing...that info explains a lot; I saw this vintage front cover of a magazine with a lady holding a huge lantern with the American flag...I looked at it and couldn't figure out why the flag was there...that must have been it: Veterans' Day...thanks!
