'The Ant and the Grasshopper' is one of Aesop's Fables,
providing an ambivalent moral lesson about the virtues of hard
work and planning for the future. The fable concerns a grashopper
that has spent the warm months singing while the ant (or ants in
some editions) worked to store up food for winter. When that
season arrives, the grasshopper finds itself dying of hunger
and upon asking the ant for food is only rebuked
for its idleness

I know, I know; it is not Christmas - it is not even
July...but have you ever seen a grasshopper ornament?
It is so cool - and even though it is portrayed as irresponsible
in Aesop's fable 'The Grasshopper and the Ant', the grasshopper
is considered to be a symbol of abundance and good luck
