That's a strange little picture. She looks like she's having a cup of tea!
I believe she is...or a "strong cup of morning coffee" ;O)
Even a mermaid needs to start her day with a cup of coffee, before a busy day of...mermaiding.
I think you are right...mermaids live in a busy world too...they have to see what humans are doing, fall in love with princes, avoid ships...visit friends...busy, busy..
