Gopsmor Cottage in Älvdalen in the northern parts of
Dalarna, was Zorn's refuge when under stress in Mora.
Zorn always tried to stay at Gopsmor on at least two
occasions during the year and was extremely pleased if there
were more opportuniies. Particularly in the winter, in January,
and in the summer, just before the midsummer solstice,
he engaged in a busy period of painting at Gopsmor

Dance in the Gopsmor Cottage, 1914
linkIn Gopsmor Zorn organised what he called
playhouses. Young people from the surrounding area
came there and danced old country dances to the music of
fiddlers playing tunes they had collected and, thanks to this
intiative of Zorn, these were not lost to the afterworld.
One of these dance evenings is the subject of the painting
Dance in Gopsmor Cottage', 1914
